Turkey & GRITS 2020 is GO for at least Saturday,
Report from the field: “Ceiling 2500 (above mean sea level. actual usable altitude is 2200′ above ground level ). Road is fine. Field is fine.”
We will start flying at 9:30 AM. “Tell them to get out here and get flying!”
Take cash to the launch if you haven’t registered yet, $20 for one day, $35 for both days. Chris Short of Chris’ Rocket Supplies will be there so you can do Christmas rocket shopping there!

Join us this today at Mill Springs Academy for this month’s SoAR Launch, from 11 AM to 4 PM. The National Weather service says it’ll be sunny, with a slight chance of showers after 3 PM. Highs around 90. Winds will be calm to westerly at 5 MPH.
We will, of course, be continuing with social distancing and wearing masks is strongly encouraged (please wear a mask when at prep table and at safety check/launch control, and when interacting with others). Remember, you’re protecting them, and they’re protecting you. We’ll also be continuing with the Electronic Flight Card system (sign up at soarrocketry.org/cards ). Though you’ll probably also be able to use physical flight cards at the prep table. We will have individual launch pads at least six feet apart.
This is our low-power field (we recommend altitudes of no more than 1000 feet to assure you getting your rocket back), but if you know what you are doing it is possible to fly mid power successfully.

Online Registration for Turkey & GRITS shuts down in an hour or so, as soon after 9 PM as possible, assuming I’m back from some last minute errands. So you might have a little longer.
Of course, the only advantage of doing online registration is that you can use a credit or debit card.
At the field this weekend, you will need cash.

You may have noticed we haven’t had Launch Reports for the last few launches. If you’re good at brief, illustrative prose, and you remember a bit of what was launched (especially for the last couple of launches) , then you too can be a Launch Reports Writer.
Basically, you just pay attention to a few notable flights at the launch, be able to describe the whole day in a few sentences, and be around at the end of the day to pick up the flight cards from the LCO table. Then, when you get home, compile the statistics from the cards (just the total of the types of motors) and write a couple of paragraphs about the launch. Look at the other reports on this page for examples. You can then send this all to Roy through the contact page on the website, and sit back and wait for it to magically appear! Roy has the stats for the July Mill Springs and Dawsonville launches; he just needs a couple of paragraphs on each.

We will, of course, be continuing with social distancing and wearing masks is strongly encouraged (please wear a mask when at prep table and at safety check/launch control, and when interacting with others). Remember, you’re protecting them, and they’re protecting you.
