Launch Reports
Remember that day you launched that four motor cluster? Nah, me neither. That’s why Jeff Coons (and friends) have this page, to remind us of all the great launches we’ve had!
October SoAR Launch Report
There was a very light turnout to Saturday’s launch at the Mill Springs Academy field, possibly because of the forecast of cold temperatures, or possibly because of confusion over start times (we delayed the start until noon to let the temperatures rise), or maybe people were waiting for the Dragway launch in three weeks. But the weather turned out quite nice for the afternoon, with temperatures ranging from 50 to 60 degrees and generally mild winds that kept us read more…

October 2013 Mill Springs Launch Report
Those who attended the October launch at Mill Springs were rewarded with fair skies, mild temperatures, and light winds through most of the morning hours. Winds were moderate during the afternoon.
There were a total of 102 launches made. The most popular motor choice was the A8-3 with 22 launches, followed by B6-4 (17), C6-5 (11), and during the time of light winds there were many challenging with various E motors, one F50-4T, a G64-4W, and a G77-4R lofting Steve Bellio’s LOC Stovi through an impressive flight.
Lilly Launch Report
William Bercini reports from Lilly:
“At first, it seemed like today’s launch was going to have a very light turnout. But people trickled in to join the scouts, providing a nice variety of rockets. Yes, it was much cooler that the last time we infested this field, and the gnats were nowhere around..but…it was quite gusty. Amazingly, IIRC, there was only one loss as a result of drift. BUT, it was a demolition derby out there today! The scouts crashed every single Big Daddy. We had two L2 cert attempts. They didn’t just crash, they read more…
Mill Springs Launch Report
On a beautiful day at Mill Springs where low humidity and clear blue skies provided an excellent day to streak skyward we had a great turnout and over 105 flights. Due to moderate winds at mid-day most opted for A8-3 (26 launches) followed by seventeen going up on a B6-4, fourteen with B4-4, and eleven challenging with a C6-5, and even some Ds and Es were ignited. Steve Bellio receives top honors with a launch of a G78-4G on his LOC Stovi. Most rockets were recovered by parachute (76) with 21 coming back on streamer. We also saw tumble recoveries and some well executed gliders. Most interesting rocket name was read more…
