Lost Mountain Park Launch Report

WP_20130811_002John Adams sends a report about the August 11th launch.

“WOW! We had a great launch today at Lost Mountain!
We launched some rockets, ZERO rockets were lost, and even had some nice contest flights.

1/2A Helicopter Duration was actually pretty dramatic! Jorge had a good flight then a prang. Joel had to overcome a few issues before finally getting a really good flight to win the event.

1/2A Streamer was the most popular event with five competitors. Kevin Scholberg won with a 25.4 second flight, followed by Collin Downs. Then came Kathryn, Cole, and Joel.

A Altimeter Altitude was pretty fun (and easy on the officials). Jorge managed 100′, Tom hit 235, and Glenn managed a flight of 394 feet. Next time, we’ll do 1/2A Altimeter Altitude to try to keep Glenn under control.

The final event only had two contestants. B Lifting Body Duration, which was flown as a sort of drag race. I won, but I don’t think Kevin will let me beat him again. It was pretty cool to see TWO X-24 Bugs drag race though. 🙂

If you attended – THANK-YOU!
If you helped out – THANK-YOU VERY MUCH!

If you attended and had a good time, please tell the good folks at Cobb County Parks and Recreation all about the day we had – maybe they will let us do it again.
